Gallery 24 in Avalon

Exhibiting from November through December is the paintings of Sydney Long. He is an early 1900 century Australian artist whose prolific works poetically portrays the landscapes of Australia  as well as reflect the Art Nouveau style of the time period. Art Nouveau is a style of art that is inspired by the curves of flowers and plants, natural forms but expressed in curved lines. It is a philosophy of a lifestyle that encompassed in all areas of art - architecture, furniture design, landscapes.... What caught my eye when I was scrolling through Pinterest is his landscapes. Whether in oils or watercolor, Sydney Long captured the spirit of Australia. Whether it's the mountains faraway or the buildings in a city or the seashore, he does not simply paints what he sees but what he feels. The "Portraits of Kerupa Flow Unveiled" Exhibit is the September and October exhibit for Gallery 24. I met, artist Kerupa Flow, at the Raglan Shire Art Exhibit a few months ago.  I was caught by her portraits. They were not only portraits but each face had a story. With the use of a computer she is able capture the expressions of each person. Lobo Saintori "Perceptions" is now exhibiting for July and August. Through his photography eye, he captures glimpses of views of slices of life as he perceives it. I had a chance to meet this wonderful photographer. Answering questions that I had for him, Lobo reveals how he got started and why he takes photos . . . What is your very first camera? My aunt's. An old  Invikta TL. I still have it. It was made around 1973 and she gave it to me for my 14th birthday in 1979.  Do you own more than one camera?  If so, which one is your favorite? For May and June is the paintings of Orsini Tarantal. He is from Spain and is known as Bishop Javier Escudero Cuervas in RL. His paintings that I've seen reflects his interest in the sea. But here in Gallery 24, Orsini brings in a message of devastation of cities...."assaulted, burned down, bombed, sacked...Wounded." The paintings will speaks to the destructions...and make the viewer pause to reflect. Other paintings of Javier can been seen on a youtube video, " The Last Voyage of the Mercedes " presented in a story like fashion.
